Bekal Fort

Kasaragod, Kerala

Laterite walls above the Arabian Sea.

Bekal's massive laterite fort occupies a headland overlooking the Arabian Sea. Ramps, observation points and long walls reveal a design focused on coastal defense rather than royal residence.

The fort's setting is the attraction: warm stone, sea wind, coconut-lined coast and changing sunset light create one of northern Kerala's strongest visual experiences.

BEST TIMEOctober to March; visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid heat.
